The Climate of Colorado – Where have we been and what lies ahead.
--
Nolan Doesken, CSU Climatologist and CoCoRaHS Program Director

This presentation will summarize weather conditions experienced in Colorado during 2006 including the snowy winter in the Northern Mountains, the warm and very dry spring, and the hot summer with active monsoonal moisture that soaked some parts of the state.  Current weather conditions and water supplies will be described as well as the status of global climate indicators.  An assessment of their possible influences on weather conditions for the 2007 growing season will be presented.  Doesken will also describe the CoCoRaHS project (Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, and Snow network) where hundreds of citizens from all over Colorado are helping track both the dry and wet weather patterns in their own local communities.  More weather watchers are still needed to help fill the gaps between existing weather stations to better observe and track Colorado’s incredibly variable climate.  http://www.cocorahs.org.
